KEY POINTS

Oil concentrations in Port Valdez:

mussels are low, practically non-detectable
sediments are low, but still show signs of the Valdez Marine Terminal
water column are low, below any known toxic levels for marine organisms

Current overall low trends are based on a number of factors:

reductions in oily ballast water deliveries
efficient operation of the Ballast Water Treatment Facility
