  12. Syngenta: Aprovia • Registration : Sprout • Controls: Rust • Suppression: Valdensinia • 202-304 mL/ac at first sign of disease;10-14 days later • PHI:365 days • Max app:2 * The MRL’s are not in place in all regions.

  13. Bayer CropScience • 4 new products and/or registrations on the market: – Option : grasses broadleaf – Ignite: burn down – Sivanto*: sucking insects (aphids, leafhoppers, maggots – Luna Tranquility*: powedry mildew; Botrytis * The MRL’s are not in place in all regions for the Sivanto or Luna so they need to check with your processor or buyer.

  14. Bayer: Option • Post- emergence control of broadleaf and grass weeds (suppression on fescue) • 1 jug will do 10 ac (630ml/ac + 1L/ac UAN) • Rainfast: 2 hours • Apply at 1-6 leaves, May-June • 1-3 days for it to work • Sprout year only

  15. Bayer: Ignite • Non selective herbicide (burndown) • 1-2 L/ac, 10L jug • Rainfast: 4 hours • Dormant application • After leaf drop in the fall or mowing in the fall • Before blueberry sprout emergence in the spring * No green blueberry tissue should be present at time of application

  16. Bayer: Ignite • Controls annual grass, broadleaf weeds and suppresses perennial weeds • Labelled for tank mix – Sinbar (1.71-2.28 lb/ac) – Velpar DF (1.34-2.23 lb/ac) – Chateau in the fall – Recommended to add the tank mix partner first

  17. Bayer: Sivanto The MRL’s are not in place in all regions • Controls many sucking bugs Aphids, Leafhoppers and Maggots • Fast knockdown and residual activity • phi: 3 days • Aphids:200-300 ml/ac; • Maggot 300-400ml/ac

  18. Bayer: Luna Tranquility The MRL’s are not in place in all regions • Broad Spectrum fungicide • New registration for Powdery Mildew and Botrytis • phi: 1 • Rate: 480 ml/ac

  19. Chemical Costs

  20. Cost of production in lbs/ac of berries • Assuming a $0.50 /lb payout for wild blueberries and the SRP for crop protectants • Cost of chemical at the at the recommended rate. • Converted to lbs/ac of blueberries required to cover just the cost of the spray material.

  21. Example • Round Up WeatherMax SRP $79.00/10L jug • Rate 400mL/ac • 25 ac out of a jug • $79.00/25ac= $3.16/ac (cost of chemical/ac) • If you are receiving $0.50/lb of berries • $3.16/lb divided by $0.50 = 6.32 lbs • 6.32 lbs of berries/ ac need to be produced to cover the cost of that spray material.
