  • Determine stop locations within DOE criteria.
  • Determine number of students per stop based
  • n the student’s address listed in the District’s

database.

  • Create route to match capacity of bus.

General Criteria for Safe Bus Stops

  • Distance from student’s residence (6A-3.001 states no more than 1 ½

miles).

  • Intersection controls.
  • Location of sex offenders (criteria provided by Florida DOJ).
  • Safe area for students to wait.
  • Ride time.
  • Most efficient number of stops.
  • Right side pickup locations.
  • Number of eligible students.
  • Site distance to proposed location stops (curves, hills, etc.).
  • Minimum distance between stops.
