RECOMMENDATION

That the City Council consider placing the Oxnard Government Accountability & Ethics Act on the March 3, 2020 primary ballot

THE ACT WOULD:

• 1. Prohibit elected officials & planning

commissioners from accepting gifts from lobbyists or city contractors;

• 2. Impose, for the first time in Oxnard, contribution

limits to the Mayor, City Council, & other candidates running for an elected office;

• 3. Provide transparency by posting all expensive

City contracts & monthly financial statements on City’s website; and

• 4. Establishing 3-term limit for City Council & Mayor,

& changing Mayor’s term from 2 to 4 years, to match City Council
