IBTF Timeline

2015: WFNBTA & WBTF come together to organize the first IBTF Grand Prix Competition, held in Abbotsford, B.C. Canada with several nations from both organizations participating. 2017: AUGUST: The second IBTF Grand Prix Competition was held in Porec, Croatia with several nations from both organizations participating. 2017: NOVEMBER - The IBTF Executive met in Orlando to amend the present statutes, and to create the section of a Governance policy handbook, which were both approved and ratified by the WBTF Board of Directors in January 2018 and will be presented to the WFNBTA Board of Directors in March 2018 for approval and ratification. Work was finalized

  • n a calendar that will schedule unified competitions for all disciplines. Application for

Sport Accord (now called GAISF) was discussed and the critical nature of being the first

  • rganization to make the application for Baton Twirling was stressed.

2018: FEBRUARY – A partnership agreement was drawn up with the assistance of our legal representative that approved WBTF to make an application on behalf of IBTF to GAISF.

March 20th 2018 – GAISF Application is submitted on behalf of IBTF making us the first ever Baton Twirling organization to seek this recognition!! The GAISF application provides us with the opportunity to be equal to other recognized sports, secure funding and support for our athletes and coaches programs and is our only path to recognition by the International Olympic Committee. Creation of a Six Year Competition Plan: The plan calls for both organizations to have their final independent World Championships in 2020. 2021: IBTF World Championships will be held in the selected disciplines: SOLO BATON, 2 BATON, ETC coming from both organizations 2022: IBTF World Championships of the Freestyle Events on the subsequent even numbered years. 2023: WFNBTA holds their own separate international competition. WBTF will hold their
