The Future of Our Facilities
Task Force Summary to School Board Financing Options Considered - Tools:
❖ Voter Approved – School Building Bonds ❖ Non-Voter Approved – Bonded Long-Term Facilities Maintenance Revenue (LTFM) ❖ No Tax Impact ❖ Ag2School Tax Credit ❖ Almost 14% of Bonded McGregor Project Debt Paid for by State of Minnesota ❖ Non-Voter Approved – Capital Facilities Bonds (Not accepted by Task Force) ❖ Paid for through Annual Operating Budget
Financing Options Recommended:
❖ A two-question referendum ballot targeting August 2020 ❖ First question should be taxpayer neutral as requested via the Community Survey ❖ Second question should ask specifically for a community fitness center as there will be a tax impact to provide the public a choice to approve ❖ Use of bonded Long-Term Facilities Maintenance (LTFM) revenue does not create an increase in property taxes and allows for more to be completed
Other Task Force Perceptions to Share:
- Space within the school building is utilized inefficiently
- Learning areas are not currently set up for 21st Century
learning
- Safety & Security issues must be addressed
- The Fitness Center (Question #2) would be a 24/7
