Qualifications Needed to Run for CISD Trustee
- A U.S. Citizen
- 18-years-old at the start date of the Term of Service
- A resident of the district for 6 months before the filing
date deadline
- A resident of the state of Texas for 12 months before the
filing deadline

Time Commitment as a Trustee
- A new Trustee is required by law to have 10 hours of school
board training their first year and 5 hours of training every year following.
- Other commitments are as follows:

Roles & Responsibilities
The Board “The trustees as a body corporate have the exclusive power and duty to govern and oversee the management of the public schools of the district.” Tex. Educ. Code Sec. 11.151b Because the Board is a body corporate, members can perform no valid act except as a body at meetings properly conveyed and conducted. Case Law.
