YCAR is a community of scholars committed to understanding the changing historical and contemporary dynamics of places in Asia, of Asia’s place in the world, and of Asian communities in Canada and around the globe. The Centre encourages research that reflects a transnational, interdisciplinary, critical and engaged approach to scholarship. YCAR fosters intellectual exchange, provides research support, enriches student training and facilitates knowledge mobilization.

Channel Launching Soon Anti‐Islamophobia Curriculum Pack

The Tessellate Institute produced a series

  • f short videos highlighting Muslim

youth, identity formation, and marginalization titled Neglected Voices. This initiative seeks to create a curriculum pack that would accompany those videos and be used as educational modules in the public school system. It is currently in progress and expected to be completed by Summer 2016. The launch event for the curriculum pack is sponsored by YCAR and the Faculty of Education, York University.

33 Proposed Amendments to YCAR Constitution

Current Text The academic Associate Director will assist the Director in her/his work. S/he will also serve as the Director’s deputy in the absence of the Director. The Executive Committee will appoint the Associate Director, with advice from the Director. Proposed Changes YCAR has two Associate Directors, who assist the Director. The Associate Director (ABMP) is, ex officio, the Executive Director of the Asia Business and Management Program (ABMP), and his/her responsibility is to ensure close cooperation and coordination between the ABMP and the Centre. The Associate Director (Graduate) is

  • ccupied by the Coordinator of the Graduate Diploma in Asian Studies and his/her

responsibility is to administer the diploma program. The Executive Committee will appoint the Associate Director (Graduate), with advice from the Director. Both Associate Directors will be voting members of the YCAR Executive Committee.
