  3. WP-4 Tasks identified D4-1 • WP3 input on indicators from initial assessment + new developments • for inclusion in current ecosystem models and to evaluate the capability of the models to capture the indicator • L ink biodiversity to food-webs indicators D4-3 • Data call with WP6 - for activity+habitat layers • Med trawl data required – contact GES working group • BTA: work in co-operation with FP7 Benthis (Helena (IMAR) to visit Cefas) • Data to made available at species list level (for BTA+connectivity data call) • Genetic data where possible for more advanced analyses (contact AZTI) D4-3 • Chris/Chiara/Natalie/others hold an internet meeting march-2013 • Tasks 4.2.2 and 4.3.4 to be discussed further to define sub-tasks and approach

  4. D4-1 Report available models + development needs 31 October 2013 Build on previous projects/knowledge Task 4.1.1: Catalogue the capabilities of GES assessment models for biodiversity JRC , Partners: CEFAS, OceanDTM, AZTI, CNRS, HCMR, MHI-NASU, DEU, IMAR, SYKE Build on MEECE inventory [www.meece.eu/library.aspx] Task 4.1.2: Employ ecosystem models and alter changes in mortality on key and vulnerable species CEFAS , Partners: CNRS, AZTI, JRC, UHULL. Run EwE, ERSEM-EwE, GOTM-EwE, tGAMs … assess where informative/lacking (i.e. vulnerable species rays/sharks etc) Milestone MS 14 - runs complete files on web – month 12 end October 2013 Task links to www.IndiSeas.org Strong links to WP3, require input on indicators (initial assessment but also developments) to attempt to model and link to food-webs

  5. D4-2 Report describing spatial ecosystem models (1) 31 August 2015 (but aim for final report April 2015) Task 4.1.3: Improve and validate GIS maps of benthic habitat using phys & biol data OceanDTM , Partners: JRC, CEFAS, PML, AZTI, KUCORPI, DEU, CNRS, MHI-NASU Milestone MS 15 - files on web – month18 end April 2014 Work in co-operation with WP6 - for activity layers Task 4.1.4: Develop spatial ecosystem models CEFAS , Partners: PML, OceanDTM, AU, AZTI, JRC, KUCORPI, MHI-NASU, HULL, CNRS (links to FP7 VECTORS , OPEC ) Med trawl data (how do we get it? – need a high level) Task 4.2.1: Examine habitat type in selected pilot areas relative to regional sea habitat CEFAS , OceanDTM , Partners:, AU, PML, JRC, DEU, UHULL, CNRS Statistical work building on 4.1.3 and 4.1.4 (links to MESMA, VECTORS and Benthis) Milestone MS 16 - files on web – month 32 end Jun 2015 output to WP6 Task 4.3.2 and Task 4.3.5 next slide…

  6. D4-2 Report describing spatial ecosystem models (2) 31 August 2015 (but aim for final report April 2015) Task 4.3.2: Identify relevant spatial and temporal scales for traits IMAR , Partners: CNRS, JRC, PML, CEFAS, AU (links to FP7 Benthis) Milestone MS 17 - fuzzy analysis complete - files on web – month 32 end Jun 2015 Work in co-operation with FP7 Benthis (Andy Kenny and Julie Bremner, Helena IMAR to visit Cefas) Data to made available at species list level (along with connectivity data call) Joint analyses led by IMAR Task 4.3.5: Modelling of marine connectivity and biod across regional seas AZTI , Partners: CNRS, PML, HCMR, MHI-NASU [ limited ], DEU, CONISMA Milestone MS 18 – indices for each area - files on web – month 24 end Oct 2014 Data to made available at species list level (along with traits data call) Genetic data where possible for more advanced analyses (contact AZTI)

  7. D4-3 Report on the analysis of reference levels for indicators of biodiversity for selected pilot areas to input into WP6 31 October 2015 Task 4.2.2: Modelling reference or target levels CEFAS , Partners: AZTI, PML, JRC 1. Where suitable ecosystem models exist (e.g. North Sea, Med Sea): potential levels modelled on current state, pressures and climate [Indiseas] 2. Statistical approaches to link indicators/fishing/climate 3. Biodiversity-productivity threshold (Axel) Task 4.3.4: Interactions between climate change, physical forcing and biodiversity CNRS , Partners: IMAR, JRC, NIOZ, PML, CEFAS, MHI-NASU Create sub-tasks here Tasks 4.2.2 and 4.3.4 to be discussed further Chris/Chiara/Natalie/others by internet meeting march-2013 Task 4.3.1: Utility, applicability, relevance of indicators from multiple traits IMAR , Partners: CNRS, AZTI, JRC, PML, CEFAS, AU Task 4.3.2: Identify relevant spatial and temporal scales for traits IMAR , Partners: CNRS, JRC, PML, CEFAS, AU Task 4.3.3: Model relationship between taxonomic/functional composition IMAR , Partners: CNRS, JRC, PML, CONISMA, CEFAS Work in co-operation with FP7 Benthis (Tasks 4.3.1-3 ,Julie Bremner)
