WHAT IS HARRISTON RISING?

Harriston Rising was initiated in June 2019 and is a grass roots, community led movement to revitalize downtown Harriston! Harriston has been coined the community “where fun things are happening” and to build on this, Harriston Rising will focus efforts around “Cool Cones and Colour Zones” in several key areas: Events & Programming, Beautification, Fundraising and Promotion. Harriston Rising is a collaboration of key stakeholders in the community. From businesses, residents and service clubs, to local talent and the Town of Minto, this is truly a community led movement! Our goal is to make Downtown Harriston a true experience and a FUN destination for all!

The Beautification Committee is involved in selecting and installing street tree and public space lighting (Tannery Park), coordinating seasonal décor, assisting with colour walls and working with the Events & Programming Committee to create photo booth back drops.

TONY TSOTROS, HARRY STONES Ever since we opened in Harriston we have been witness to improvements by businesses, by the Chamber, by the Downtown Revitalization Committee, the Town, the County and by so many service

• groups. So, of course, we have seen a lot (façade improvements, the fire hall and the library

renovated, the Old Post, murals, plants trees, sidewalks, new shops, Communities in Bloom and other awards too), but we've all been moving forward somewhat independently. This new Harriston Rising feels like a coming together and the opportunity for multiple generations to: show off the special place that Harriston is, to bring out the best and brightest, to make Harriston stand out in a crowd. A place to eat, a place to meet, a place to play, a place to stay. As always Harry Stones is happy to be part of any initiatives that help show what a vibrant and generous community Harriston and Minto is! Harriston Rising helps create community togetherness, a positive business environment and if done well business growth and prosperity starting in our down town core. Beyond those measurable items it brings together business owners to work together on a project. The benefits to one individual business is hard to measure, the impact on the community is measured by the comfort level of people to spend more time in the down town area just enjoying the experience of their home town.
