  4. Who participates in CCP at LCCC?

  5. CCP at LCCC: 2015 ‐ 2016 2,643 students participated ‐ 47% in 12 th grade; 33% in 11 th ; 15% in 10 th ; 4% in 9 th ; 0.9% in 8 th ; 0.3% in 7 th 320 different courses taken 23,903 credits earned (96% passing rate!)

  6. College ‐ readiness determined by college. At LCCC, no minimum GPA, but test scores are required.

  7. Apply and Get Admitted Participate by getting admitted into a college. May have to take a placement test and other criteria.

  8. Student Choice Students can choose any course that applies toward a degree or workforce certification, including: • Transfer Module • Electives • Online

  9. Graduate with College Credit Earn up to 30 college credit hours per academic year, including summer. No more than 120 college credit hours while in the program.

How Many Credits Can I Take? • Count the number of secondary units for which the student is earning only high school credit • Multiply that number by 3 • Subtract that number from 30 Example: Student is enrolled for 4 secondary units 4x3=12 30-12=18 Student is eligible to take 18 college credit hours during the current academic year

  11. Books and Fees Students attending a public college do not pay for either books or fees. Students attending a private college may have a cost that includes books and fees. Homeschool students must pay for textbooks.

  13. A semester college course of 3 or more credits counts as a one ‐ year high school class.

  15. Under what scenarios can a qualified student use College Credit Plus?

  16. You want to take college courses to satisfy your high school graduation requirements. You completed your high school graduation required classes and you want to begin college work. You want to explore college and take a course in a subject that interests you.

  20. Grades are Applied to Graduation Requirements The grade you earn in the college course is applied to your high school graduation required class.

  22. Other Cautions • Removed from HS environment • FERPA applies • May miss HS activities • Exposed to adult content • Follow LCCC’s academic calendar • Colleges transcripts are permanent records • For failures, high school graduation can be jeopardized

  23. Deadline for Students: April 1 Notify your school if you intend to participate next year. You can use the “Intent to Participate” form here: www.OhioHigherEd.org/CCP

  24. Nonpublic and Home School Students: 1. Submit your letter of intent to participate by April 1 (ASAP) 2. Gain admission to the college (ASAP) 3. Create a SAFE account on the Ohio Department of Education website (Feb. 15 ‐ April 15) 4. Apply for state funding by April 15

  25. What’s next? • Submit your CCP application, with signatures and transcripts, to LCCC by • April 15 (summer) • June 15 (fall) • October 15 (spring) • Complete Accuplacer OR send ACT/SAT scores • ACT: 18 E, 22 M, 22 R • Visit www.accuplacer.collegeboard.org for sample questions

  26. After Admission • Create your MyCampus Account • Complete orientation and CSI (in ‐ person or online through MyCampus) • www.lorainccc.edu/orientation • Meet with your HS guidance counselor to discuss course selections and complete the Course Authorization Form

  27. Scheduling Classes • Schedule an appointment with your LCCC advisor • Advising sessions at LCCC and some high schools • Enrollment Services Hours: visit the website to see your advisor’s availability • Order your books online, then pick them up!
