  5. What is Visitability? • Refers to single-family housing that is designed in such a way that it can be lived in or visited by people who have trouble with steps or who use wheelchairs or walkers We build strength , stability and self-reliance through shelter . 5

Why does MVHFH build their houses to be visitable? • We understand and appreciate the importance of building houses that meet the current and potential future needs of our homeowners, their families, and their visitors. • On some of our houses, visitability is a grant requirement. • Since 2018, 100% of our new builds (whether required or not) have conformed to the City of T oledo visitability ordinance. We build strength , stability and self-reliance through shelter . 6

Our Visitability Experience – No Step Entrance Changes • We installed an entry door that has an “ADA sill”. • We provided a ramped concrete sidewalk from driveway to front porch Issues / Solutions • Ramped sidewalk was raised higher than before and made final grade a little more difficult. Solved by installing elevated flower beds where sidewalk meets front porch. • Snow may make “ADA sill” door difficult to open. Our house design incorporates a covered entrance.
