  2. Glossary o ATAR Australian Tertiary Admission Rank Derived from your TEA – changes annually o LOTE Bonus Increases TEA by 10% of the final scaled score in a LOTE course for entry to Curtin, ECU, Murdoch and UWA o Scaling Ranks courses by ‘difficulty’ – adjusts marks for TEA o Scaled Score Final mark from each course used to calculate your TEA o Standardise Allows comparison marks from different courses (mean 60) o Moderate Adjusts school marks using WACE exam results for the school (not individual) o TEA Tertiary Entrance Aggregate - sum of your best 4 scaled scores (can accumulate over 5 consecutive years) o WACE Western Australian Certificate of Education Mark Adjustment Data for all WA schools in Year 12 2013 While the combined score for each course is 50% school* and 50% WACE exam, school marks are moderated by the WACE exam. Course scaling is largely out of our control (based on the performance of every student in a particular course compared to every other course they study). The one thing we can control and must improve is exam performance.
