What are Intimate Camps? Intimate Camps are luxury mobile camps which are booked for private and exclusive use only, almost anywhere on Tanzania’s Northern Safari circuit. Each camp is tended by a crew of private butlers, private chefs and personal tent attendants.
Locations Intimate Camps can be set up almost anywhere on the Tanzania Northern Safari circuit. Areas where we commonly set up camps for our guests include the following: • Serengeti National Park • Ngorongoro Conservation Area • Lake Manyara National Park • Tarangire National Park • Arusha National Park • West Kilimanjaro • Lake Natron • Lake Eyasi. The two most important considerations when identifying a location for an ‘Intimate Camp’ are the ability of our service trucks to reach the chosen location and the safety of our guests during their stay with us.

Intimate Camps All of our ‘Intimate Camps’ consist of a ‘mess’ tent which is sized according to the number of guests booked and a number of en-suite accommodation tents to include a specially configured “family” tent if required. Accommodation tent numbers as well as the configuration of the beds to be provided in each are discussed and agreed upon at the planning stage of every camp.
Accommodation Tents Our en-suite accommodation tents measure 30 square meters and consist of a private verandah, bedroom area, dressing room, shower room and flush toilet. Each tent is supplied with both hot and cold water as well as electricity which is generated through a system of batteries and inverters. Aside from enjoying ample lighting, our guests can also charge their cameras, mobile telephones and tablet computers in the convenience of their own tents.

Family Tent Intimate Camps also has a number of family tents which are made up of two accommodation tents joined together by a private lounge area. Measuring over 60 square meters, each bedroom has its own en-suite dressing area, shower and toilet. As with our standard accommodation tents, the family tents are supplied with both hot and cold water as well as electricity. All accommodation tents can be set up for single, double and triple occupancy. For 4 guests or more wishing to share one accommodation unit, we recommend that you book a family tent.
Mess Tent The ‘mess’ tent is configured as a lounge / dining room and includes an open bar. Accommodation is provided on a full board, all-inclusive basis to include the following: • Breakfast • Lunch (hot lunch served in camp or a picnic hamper to be taken on game drives). • Pre-dinner bitings. • Dinner. • Wines, spirits (international brands), beers, minerals and mineral water. • Laundry services.
A tailor-made experience At the time of taking your booking for an Intimate Camp, we will carefully review your requirements with you. This • We will review with you the different campsites available in the area(s) you wish to visit so that you may select your preferred location for your stay with us. • We will send you the different menus which we propose to serve to you during the course of your stay so that you can let us know of any dietary requirements you may have as well as of any personal likes and dislikes. • We will send you a list of the beverages which will be available to you in camp so that you can tell us about your preferences. • We will ask you about the bed configurations required in each accommodation tent. Singles are normally set up with a double bed; doubles may have either a ‘queen’ sized bed or two single beds; triples can either be furnished with three single beds or a double and single bed. Only taking this degree of trouble at the planning stage can both you and we be certain that your camp will meet your highest expectations.
Fly-in and Drive-in stays Intimate Camps can also be booked as ‘flying Safari’ destinations with both airstrip transfers and game drives being carried out in our own 4 x 4 vehicles driven by our own highly trained professional guides.

Intimate Places and the environment Intimate Places is proud of its record on the protection of the environments in which we operate. • Electricity in camp is produced by solar energy (a stand-by generator is available for use in case of emergencies only). • Hot water is produced using especially fabricated, energy efficient boilers and recycled wood products. • All garbage generated at the camp is returned to Arusha where it is properly disposed of.
