ACT and SA CT and SAT  4 year colleges and universities require students take the ACT and/or the SAT ■ May take one or the other, both not required 21 st Century Scholars and free/reduced lunch students may qualify for a fee waiver ■  Avon will host the ACT September 9 th and the SAT October 7 th  When registering, be sure to list 4 colleges/universities to have scores sent to for FREE ■ Butler, IUB, Purdue, NCAA/NAIA require test scores to be sent directly from the testing agency  Students applying to schools with a November 1 priority deadline will need to take the September ACT if they do not yet have a test score.  Colleges will accept higher scores for scholarship consideration, as long as initial deadlines are met

Tips Tips on V on Visiting isiting Colle Colleges ges  Go to the university/college’s admissions page to register for a campus visit  Complete College/Military Visit Form : Two visits allowed senior year  Plan your visit when students are actually on campus  Complete Campus Visit Score Card  Campus Visit Checklist  Ask questions of students that you see on campus. Your tour guide will most likely be a college student. Design your own visit:  Tour the campus  Meet with an admissions counselor  Meet with a financial aid officer  Observe a classroom lecture  Bring an unofficial high school transcript  Schedule an overnight visit (if possible)

Complete application online* via the college/university’s admissions webpage and pay application fee 21 st Century Scholars and free/reduced lunch students may qualify for fee waiver.  2. Request transcript via Naviance 3. Complete Blue College Application Checklist *Some applications require certain additional pieces. For Examples: SAT/ACT test scores sent directly from testing agencies, other supporting documents such as teacher recommendations *some schools use the Common App

When hen to A to Appl pply  Check application deadlines for each individual college/university ■ Some programs have earlier deadlines (i.e. Engineering , Nursing , Pharmacy )  Submit all completed application materials by October 6 th to allow ample time for counselors to finalize their portion of the application before Fall Break  November 1 st ■ Purdue University: November 1 is the firm deadline for veterinary technology, merit-based scholarship consideration, and to be considered for the honors college. Early Action applicants will receive an admission decision on January 15. ■ Indiana University: Priority deadline to be considered for IU Academic Scholarships. If you meet the November 1 application deadline, you may submit updated SAT and/or ACT scores until January 15 for additional scholarship consideration. Decisions will begin to be released in early October.
