ACT and SA CT and SAT

 4 year colleges and universities require students take the ACT and/or the SAT

■ May take one or the other, both not required

 Avon will host the ACT September 10th and the SAT October 1st  When registering, be sure to list 4 colleges/universities to have scores sent to for FREE

■ IUB, Purdue, NCAA require test scores to be sent directly from the testing agency

 Students applying to schools with a November 1 priority deadline will need to take the September ACT if they do not yet have a test score.  Colleges will accept higher scores for scholarship consideration, as long as initial deadlines are met

 Go to the university/college’s admissions page to register for a campus visit  Complete College/Military Visit Form: Two visits allowed senior year  Plan your visit when students are actually on campus  Complete Campus Visit Score Card  Ask questions of students that you see on campus. Most likely, your tour guide will be a college student. Design your own visit:  Tour the campus  Meet with an admissions counselor  Meet with a financial aid officer  Observe a classroom lecture  Bring an unofficial high school transcript  Schedule an overnight visit (if possible)

 Check application deadlines for each individual college/university

■ Some programs have earlier deadlines (i.e. Engineering, Nursing, Pharmacy)

 Submit all completed application materials by September 30th to allow ample time for counselors to finalize their portion of the application before Fall Break  November 1st

■ Purdue University: November 1 is the firm deadline for nursing, vet tech, computer science, merit-based scholarship consideration, and to be considered for the honors college. ■ Indiana University: Priority deadline to be considered for IU Achievement and Selective Scholarships. If you meet the November 1 application deadline, you may submit updated SAT and/or ACT scores until January 15 for additional scholarship

  • consideration. Decisions will begin to be released in early October.
