Attendance Policy

1. School starts PROMPTLY at 8:15 and Kindergarten pickup is at 2:30 Monday-Thursday. Friday (and all minimum days) pickup is at 1:00 pm. 2. Tardies need to report to the office and students get a slip. 3. Absences need to be reported to the attendance clerk at 425-9600 x630-110 4. Absences exceeding 5 days need to be approved by the office in

  • rder to receive an Independent Study Contract.

  • DO NOT send your child to school when they are sick (fever, vomiting

within 24 hours, heavy coughing, runny nose with mucus, or other chronic illness (asthma attack, severe allergic reaction, etc)

  • If your child appears to be sick, we will immediately send them to the
  • ffice for nurse’s assessment.
  • Call the Attendance Clerk in the morning every time your child must

stay home.

  • Please inform your child’s teacher of any special medical

needs:chronic or severe illness or allergy.

Arriving At School

  • School begins promptly at 8:15 a.m.
  • Students line up on the blacktop for school-wide announcements.
  • Find child’s name tag in pocket chart and help them put it on.
  • Parents must also respect announcements and limit conversations with other parents.

  • Please help your child stay in line with appropriate behavior.
  • Say goodbye to your child in the line or at the gate outside the kindergarten playground.
  • Late arrivals must go through the office to get a green slip before lining up or going to

class.

Dismissal Procedure

  • All students must be picked up on time.
  • Only authorized adults (names listed on emergency cards) may pick up students.

Siblings are NOT allowed to pick up kinder students.

  • Enter Kinder playground area by front parking lot gates.
  • Form a line outside teacher’s classroom and wait for the door to be opened.
  • If arriving late, immediately contact the office and teacher or send alternate

authorized adult to pick up your child. Students not picked up on time by 2:30 M-Th and 1:00 on Fridays will be escorted to the office.

  • Bus riders will be escorted to the appropriate bus.
  • Please bring your ID when picking up your child and be patient during dismissal.
  • Kinder gates will remain locked until whole school dismissal bell rings. Please

supervise your child while on campus at all times.

  • No students are allowed to play with kinder equipment after dismissal.

Lunch and Snack

  • Make sure your child eats a very good breakfast. No morning snack. Lunch

begins at 10:15 a.m.

  • Beginning the 2nd week, choose to have your child either be a Packer or a

Buyer.

  • Students may buy lunch in cafeteria (This information is in the Beginning School

Packet from the office. Do not send lunch money to teacher.)

  • Please provide a separate healthy snack each day. Snack is in the afternoon.
  • Please ensure that your child’s lunch is marked with “L” and snack is marked with

“S”, so children and teachers understand clearly what to eat when.

  • Please make sure the lunch and/or snack is food that your child can eat
  • independently. (ex. unpeeled oranges, tupperware lids, etc.)
  • No microwave or refrigeration is available.
  • On minimum days, students do not need a snack.

What To Bring and Not To Bring

Bring:

  • Backpack
  • Comfortable clothes your child can manage independently
  • Close toed shoes (velcro if cannot tie)
  • Healthy Lunch/Snack (Nut free environment)
  • Reusable Water Bottle

Do Not Bring:

  • Toys/Games
  • Money (unless for specific school event)
  • Candy, Sweets, Soda, etc.
  • Basic School Supplies

Homework Policies

  • Homework will be posted on the kindergarten blog every Friday (unless

there is a holiday).

  • It is collected on the following Friday (unless otherwise noted).
  • IMPORTANT: Check your child’s Communication Folder/Binder daily for

notes from the teacher or office.

  • Please help your child keep their Communication Folder/Binder neat and

tidy by emptying it out daily.

  • You may help your child with directions, but your child should be doing the

work.

Clothing and Personal Items

  • Send your child to school in clothes for playground

activities, easy bathroom access and comfort. (Girls wear shorts under skirts/dresses)

  • Label all things with your child’s name, especially

jackets, lunch bags, backpacks, water bottles, etc.

  • Unmarked clothing will be turned into Lost and Found.
  • Shoes should have velcro or be slip on (no shoe laces

unless your child can tie their own shoes)

  • Shoes must be sturdy and cover the whole foot (for

playground and safety purposes)

  • No food is allowed per the District Wellness Policy.
  • Donate and/or read a book to the class
  • Goody bags or single items for students with non-edible

items such as pencils, erasers, stickers can be handed

  • ut at the end of school.
  • If you are having a party for your child at home or

elsewhere, you must pass out invitations after school.

We need volunteers!

  • All Parents/guardians are encouraged to volunteer prepping

materials and working with students.

  • All volunteers must attend a volunteer orientation on on July

25th at 8:30 a.m. or 6:00 p.m.

  • All volunteers must show proof of a negative TB Test.
  • Fingerprinting in required if you come more than 2x a week.
  • Teachers will set up a schedule in the next couple of weeks

and let you know.

  • Volunteers may not come until after the first 2 weeks of

school.
