Purpose and Need of the Project

The primary purpose of the project is to improve local and regional mobility by improving traffic flow on SR-96 between the cities of Franklin and Murfreesboro This project will address safety, traffic congestion, and geometric deficiencies

  • 1995 – Original planning document completed
  • 1998 – Initial Public Meeting
  • 2001 – Corridor and Design Public Hearing
  • 2005 – NEPA Hearings held
  • 2001 – 2012 Construction of SR-840 through the area
  • 2017 – Passage of Improve Act
  • Corridor divided into 3 segments

– Design updated to 5 lane roadway

  • Segment 1: From East of Arno Road to East of SR-252
  • Segment 2: From East of SR-252 to I-840
  • Segment 3: From I-840 to Veterans Parkway
