I NTRODUCTION TO I NTERDISCIPLINARY S CIENCE (out of 120 Credits required for MSD) 5 credits Pass/Fail Learning Outcomes • Gather and compile relevant scientific literature in printed and digital form; • Use scientific literature according to different disciplinary and interdisciplinary traditions and work methods; Define and evaluate ethical questions with relevance for sustainable development; • • Analyze scientific concepts and their field of use; • Scientifically communicate in spoken and written form, within and between different scientific areas. Get to know each other – Get to know Uppsala – Intro to SD Examination • Active participation – 75% attendance including Mandatory sessions • An interdisciplinary group project 2 individual assignments (one poster and one written) •

  18. W ORLDVIEWS & V ISIONS Introduction to Interdisciplinary Science Worldviews & Visions Runs every FRIDAY and has a morning and afternoon session 5 Credits Pass/Fail End of first semester • Sustainability & You • Ecocide • COP21 & International Negotiations

W ORLDVIEWS & V ISIONS Learning Outcomes • be able to understand different dimensions of Sustainable development on a local, regional and global scale; • be able to critically relate to and analyse the history and development of the concept of Sustainable development; • be able to critically relate to and value different definitions and indicators of Sustainable development; • be able to critically relate to and value different actors’ visions of a sustainable future and different strategies to attain a sustainable society. Examination • Active participation – 75% attendance including Mandatory sessions • 4 individual assignments Literature • Course Reader – a collection of articles and book chapters ONLINE • Higgins, Polly (2010), Eradicating Ecocide , London: Shephard-Walwyn (Publishers) Ltd, 2 nd course book to be announced soon • • Additional articles and videos related to specific lectures and workshops will also be posted online An Information Pack with this info and a schedule will be available before the start of the course – 18th September!
