Why Are We Here? On May 29, 2018, the LA County Board of Supervisors directed the Chief Executive Office and the Department of Mental Health in consultation with the Auditor Controller (A-C), the Center for Strategic Partnerships (CSP) and a cross-section of stakeholder organizations to develop recommendations for establishing a Community Based Mental Health Incubation Academy .
Transforming LA Through Partnership: An Approach to Community Well-Being This is an effort designed to provide mentorship, training, and technical assistance to small and mid-sized grassroots CBOs that are interested in providing preventive services to the County’s most vulnerable residents.
Public and Private Funding Investment • DMH committed a $5M investment in this effort over 3 Fiscal Years, beginning FY 2019-20 • Of the $5M, each Sup District will receive $1M to fund short term projects for Transforming LA participants • Philanthropic partners have committed funding to provide stipends and other related expenses for Transforming LA participants

Transforming LA Core Training Capacity Building Intensive Sessions Participation Stipends Peer Learning Selected Participants Technical Assistance Funding Coaching and Support of Selected Consulting Services Short-Term Projects Advanced Training
Transforming LA: Core Trainings Selected participants will Core be offered three core Trainings trainings on County regulations, guidelines, service delivery, and the process for contracting with the County.
Transforming LA: Technical Assistance Transforming LA will include advanced workshops in specialized topics, as determined by current or proposed services. Technical Assistance Participants will also be offered executive leadership coaching and consulting to assist with project management.
Transforming LA: Fund Distribution CBOs that participate in Transforming LA will be granted a DMH-funded award of up to $200,000 for the implementation of a short- Funding term project, including ongoing support for contract management.
Who Can Apply? • Groups on the DMH Master Agreement List • No previous DMH County contracts • Providing relevant community services • Community engagement experience • Ready to complete training modules • Organizational budget of $1 million or less
