Why Are We Here?

On May 29, 2018, the LA County Board of Supervisors directed the Chief Executive Office and the Department of Mental Health in consultation with the Auditor Controller (A-C), the Center for Strategic Partnerships (CSP) and a cross-section of stakeholder

  • rganizations to develop

recommendations for establishing a Community Based Mental Health Incubation Academy.

This is an effort designed to provide mentorship, training, and technical assistance to small and mid-sized grassroots CBOs that are interested in providing preventive services to the County’s most vulnerable residents.

Public and Private Funding Investment

  • DMH committed a $5M investment in this effort
  • ver 3 Fiscal Years, beginning FY 2019-20
  • Of the $5M, each Sup District will receive $1M

to fund short term projects for Transforming LA participants

Selected participants will be offered three core trainings on County regulations, guidelines, service delivery, and the process for contracting with the County.

Technical Assistance

Transforming LA will include advanced workshops in specialized topics, as determined by current or proposed services. Participants will also be

coaching and consulting to assist with project management.

Funding

CBOs that participate in Transforming LA will be granted a DMH-funded award

implementation of a short- term project, including
