Homework Timetable

Wednesday Maths either My Maths? or practising basic skills e.g. tables Thursday New spellings. Friday One piece of homework based on learning in RE, Science, Topic or Art.

Reading: Children should read up to 20 mins a week. Once a week you should ask your child one of the revised comprehension questions at the front (fiction) and back (non-fiction) of the reading diaries.

Homework continued

  • Time will be allocated at the end of the day for the child

to record their homework in their homework diary. If instructions are complicated a sheet will also be sent.

  • Children are expected to put their own homework in a

homework tray where it will be monitored by staff.

  • Encourage children to read through their homework with

you to check accuracy and presentation.

  • Homework diaries, reading records and SaCaWaC will

be checked regularly.

How can you help…..

  • Regular practice of multiplication tables and

their related division facts will greatly aid your child in many aspects of Mathematics.

  • Please do check homework diaries daily for

homework and messages and sign them

Times Tables Assessment

This Summer, the Year 4s will be the first year to be assessed on their times tables through a Government online testing programme. This is nothing to worry about, and there will be a talk for parents with more information later in the year. In the mean time, keep practising those tables! 

Strings Scheme

The RGS Strings Scheme will be giving violin and cello lessons to all the Year 4s every Friday. Please make sure the children have their instruments in school on this day. Autumn Concert @ St Thomas- 29th Nov Summer Concert @ RGS- tbc

Safety Procedures

Start of day procedures. There are yellow boxed areas by the MUGA gates. These are to allow the children to get to class safely at the start of the day. Please could you keep these clear until the children are safely in class. End of day procedures. Please let us know if another adult is picking your child up at the end of the day. Could you also ensure that ASC are aware that you intend to collect your child if this is a change to the normal routine.

Head teacher challenges

  • Each week every child in the school will be

set a different challenge by Mr Lewin. The focus of this challenge will change through

  • ut the year.
  • This half term the focus will be on times

tables.

  • The next half term will be focused on

spellings.

Equipment

  • Named PE kit- including a change of socks especially for

girls wearing tights and a PE jumper for winter months.

  • Art apron/shirt.
  • Hooded coat for outdoor learning.
  • One pencil case containing- couple of pens, pencils, ruler

(not bendy), rubber, colouring pencils, sharpener, glue- stick.

  • Children can buy a handwriting pen from the school

stationary shop for 50p on Wednesday (?)
