Magnet Academic Program

General Information:

MAP stands for Magnet Academic Program. MAP is a 3 year program only at the junior high level. MAP offers:

  • Accelerated (Math/Science) Curriculum
  • Integrated (Humanities) Curriculum
  • MAP consists of two segments: Math/Science and Humanities (language

arts/social studies).

  • Each segment has independent qualifying standards.
  • Some students may be in Math/Science, some students may be in

Humanities, and some students may be in both.

➔ Warrior Camp will be on August 1st. ➔ We will have a MAP Mixer in between the morning and afternoon sessions of Warrior Camp (11:30 am - 1 pm) of August 1st. ➔ Summer Reading Workshop on Wednesday, July 17th from 1-4 pm. ➔ Schedule Pick Up will be on August 12. ➔ MJH Library is open on Wednesdays throughout summer.

Top Tips for Students

1. Read, read, and read some more. We recommend students read 15 minutes each night. 2. Study and review daily. Students should look over class materials every night. 3. Find difgerent ways to study and interact with your notes. a. Highlight b. Summarize c. Make flash cards 4. Corrections-correct assignments to learn from mistakes. 5. Don’t procrastinate! Stay organized and plan well.

World Cultures:

Throughout the year students will make their way around the world and study each continent’s geography, culture, economics, government, and relationship with the United States.

Please note: Humanities is

not an accelerated course.
