Goals of training in the curriculum in detail
30
School model basic vocational education first apprenticeship
31
32
Change of enterprise (farm) after one or two years
- All three years on different farms are possible
- getting to know regional characteristics, languages and cultures
- It is possible to change between cantons (regions). The curricula is
adapted for this change between different farms during the apprentiship
- The apprentices have to choose the apprenticeship-places (enterprises) in
a way that they can learn all skills of the curriculum (for example: also choose farm that practice tillage farming, not only grassland farms)
33
How do school leavers find informations about apprentisships in the vocational field of agriculture?

34
How do school leavers find a farm for their apprentisship in the vocational field of agriculture?
35
Apprenticeship-farms in the cantons ZH / SH
varied from dairy to wine great choice for a wide and broad apprenticeship
36
appitude check before signing the contract (farmer with federal diploma or with federal attest )
Results of a standardized test (Stellwerk/Jobskills) are helpful for the farmer/ vocational trainers to make the right decision for the suitable level of education A two or three days trial-apprenticeship before signing a contract ist helpful for a complementary appraisal of the apprentice and to find out the apprentice matches together with the farmers family Strickhof helps farmers/vocational trainers to make a good decision for the right level of education. We offer an additional test, a one-on-one interview, a report with our interpretation of the results
37
Excellent chances on the job market
- good skilled employees in the vocational field of agriculture are searched
for
- young professionals also have good chances to find a job outside of the
vocational field.
- reasons:
- all-rounder: „No other profession is as varied als the profession of farming:
he’s a bit mechanic, carpenter, he works with many different materials, with plants, animals and human beings.“
- graduates with a federal vocational diploma are self reliant and endued
with soft skills. Apprentices take over responsibility for animals, nature and expensive equipment very fast.
- they are used to work independently / they have the will to persevere and
are able to withstand stress and cope with heavy workloads (55 h/week)
38
Fields of occupation for farmers
Innovation and Development
Innovation and development is a collaborative task of the swiss federation, the cantons and the branches of industry. Every profession has a panel / commission with representives of this compound in duty of quality management and development greater evaluation organized by the branches/sectors of industry every 5-10 years adaptation/ reorganization of the curriculum and the commitment every 5-10 years Our policy: ongoing, continuous evaluation - ongoing, continous improvement Innovation through close cooperation and coordination with the branches of industry /sectors / farmers association
39
Questions on Quality
higher vocational degree required for the instructors of the practical skills at the apprenticeship-farm; regular further training for practical instructors only approved farms /enterprises are allowed to employ apprentices bachelor/master degree plus additional didactic degree for teachers at the vocational school regular internal and external further training, - mentors, - coaching regular internal evaluations (vocational school and farm) target & objective agreements and appraisal interview with the head/boss supervision/visitations under inclusion of branch-experts (classes, farms, qualification process – final examinations) cross-supervision by teachers themselves
