  2. Who are the “Friends”? Welcome to the SCHS family! The Friends of Streatham & Clapham High School is a group of parents with girls at the school. We work together to organise a calendar of fun events throughout the year to bring the whole school community together and raise funds to help the school provide even better facilities and equipment for our girls. We hope to meet you in person at one of our events soon, but until then hope this presentation will introduce us and what we do.

  3. Friendly Faces The Friends are led by co-chairs Bobbi Isaac and Kate Deeley, supported by a committee of eager helpers and a whole host of other parents, the school staff and often the girls themselves. We all pull together to put on our events and support the school.

  4. Events for pupils Recent events that we have run for the girls have included: Discos Christmas Parties Easter Egg Hunts and craft afternoons at the Prep School

  5. Events for parents Our parents’ social events are a great way to get to know other parents, both those with girls in your daughter’s year and across the wider school. Recently, we’ve held Quiz nights, hosted Guest speakers, run silent auctions and Christmas shopping evenings, as well as more informal meet ups in local pubs.

  6. Whole School events Sadly, it can’t happen this year, but the highlight of our calendar is usually the annual School Fair which brings together families from both the Senior and Prep school for an afternoon of fun, food and games.

  7. Second-Hand Uniform Sales We hold regular second-hand uniform sales to give parents the chance to buy and sell good quality second-hand uniform at regular intervals throughout the school year. We will run a sale as soon as this is possible, but sadly this won’t be before your girls join the school in September. In the meantime, there is a ‘marketplace’ section on Classlist where parents can advertise or request pre-loved items.

  8. Fundraising Through our events and sales we raise money to help the school provide even better facilities for our girls. In recent years, our donations have supported the purchase of a grand piano for the Ellis Hall, gazebos to offer shelter at Sports Days and outdoor events, 3-D printers and the newly completed low-rope and trim- trail at the Prep school.

  9. Class Reps We also help recruit class reps for every class in the school to encourage parents with children in the same class get to know one another and organise an online forum for parents to message one another, via Classlist.com. You should already have received a letter from us giving full details and seeking volunteer class reps. Please make sure you have returned this before your daughter starts the school so that we can include you.
