Leadership Philosophy

  • Clear goals, clear communication and clear expectations are crucial.
  • We must invest in collaboration. “None of us” is as smart “as all of us”.
  • Instructional leaders impact school culture and teacher quality.
  • All students can learn and progress.
  • A relentless and persistent attitude, while keeping the accent on the positive, can help teams

achieve great things.

  • I believe in the power of the teachers.

Help your child

  • Academy Commitment
  • Parents will support the program by making every effort to make sure the

child is at school and on time every day.

  • Parents will expect students to be ready, respectful and responsible.
  • Parents will commit to read to their student 20 minutes daily.

  • Student will comply with AISD policies as described in the Student Code of

Conduct.

slide-22
SLIDE 22

Language Support

  • READ with your child every day. Regardless of the language, genre, or even variety of text (“You want to

read Curious George AGAIN??”), reading to and with your child is the single most influential predictor of reading success… And if your child can read in one language, learning to read in a second language is that much easier.

  • CELEBRATE and APPRECIATE the language your child is learning at school. Provide opportunities for

your child to experience the second language outside of school.

  • TALK with your child every day. Frequent conversations help build vocabulary, provide a model for

speaking, and build the confidence and performance of your child’s speaking and listening skills.

  • SEEK OUT opportunities for your child to learn the second language:
  • Check out bilingual books or Spanish books to read together. Research bilingual storytimes.
  • UNDERSTAND, SUPPORT, AND APPRECIATE the fact that your child is a developing bilingual and will

learn differently than his/her monolingual peers.
