WHS Peer Mediation Program
✓ Created in 2009 as an alternate source of
conflict resolution for students and directed by students.
✓ About 145 mediations have taken place,
helping over 250 students at WHS.
✓ Purpose: Students learn to resolve disputes
through Open Communication and Compromise, Face to Face (not social media)
✓ Voluntary and Confidential
Engineering Department
✓ Courses available to 9th grade students include:

Course Placement
■ 8th grade teachers will
meet with students to discuss level placement\

their teachers if interested in working to change placement; Any recommendation changes finalized by 6/2
■ Placement is made by
student’s 8th grade teacher based on current performance
■ There are placement
tests in Math and World Language during the summer

✓March 17-22: GMS Teachers enter course recommendations ✓March 22 and 23: WHS administration meets with 8th grade teams at GMS ✓March 23: PowerSchool open for entering course requests ✓March 24: Extended homeroom for course requests ✓March 28: 2nd extended homeroom for course selection clean-up ✓June 2: Teacher placements updated if necessary ✓ July: Schedules made available in PowerSchool ✓August 23: Freshman Orientation
