Random Surfaces and Physics Interface particularly developed in France and Russia. Russia not distinguishing too much mathematics from physics... France producing mathematicians like apples... Conformal theory, integrable systems, matrix models and Liouville theory strongly developed in both countries There is BPZ (in which B stands for Belavin, KPZ, and BIPZ; we have Fran¸ cois David and Vladimir Kazakov... Strong probability schools. In France ”brownian sphere” developed by Le Gall, Schaeffer, Curien, Miermont...; important input: Gromov-Hausdorff geometry. Equivalence theorems between the discrete and continuum in 2d quantum gravity, (Duplantier, Miller-Sheffield, Vargas...), better understanding of related university classes (Borot)

Program During this conference you will also hear about Conformal theory (Bershtein, Ribault, Saleur), integrable systems (Razumov), matrix models (Buryak, Zabrodin), knots (Morozov)... Low energy: statistical mechanics (Rosso) and the other KPZ (Le Doussal, Majumdar), defects (Katanaev)... High energy: general relativity, horizons, quantum gravity; and in particular strings (Alexandrov, Makeenko, Marshakov, Vanhove) and topological field theory, triangulations (Calka, Cristofori, Bonzom) and random tensors (Gurau) ... Short talks by junior speakers will complete the landscape. Do not miss them: they are the wave of the future!

Conclusion The interface ”Random Geometry and Physics” has a bright future. Of course it is not limited to France and Russia. In my opinion the trend will be towards higher dimensional, background-independent random geometry and it will have many physical applications. We dream of the time when random knots and random smooth structures in 4 dimensions will be as well understood as random surfaces are today. Maybe at that time we shall better understand quantum gravity...
