WELCOME ADDRESS Ms. Grace Yu, Executive Director Singapore Human Resources Institute Ms Low Peck Kem, CHRO and Senior Director (Workforce Development), PSD, PMO; SHRI Advisory Board Member, Council Members, Distinguished Judges, Ladies & Gentlemen, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to The Singapore HR Awards 2019 Curtain Raiser. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the 28 judges, who have volunteered their valuable time and assistance in supporting us – some of you are here today. Your contribution as a judge is important to us, as it is imperative that the Judging Panel lends different perspectives, insights and feedback to the participating organisations. To our friends from the HR Fraternity and business partners, thank you for taking the time to join us today. We are heartened to see familiar faces, and just as delighted to see new ones. Each of you represent a different cross-section of the business community, every one contributing to the success of your respective organisations, and collectively to the HR community.

The Awards have traditionally played an instrumental role in: Sharing, showcasing successes • Conferring recognition • Honouring HR Professionals and organisations, and • Providing valuable insights. • More importantly, the Awards are about Honouring Human Capital, because it is through our most important asset – Human Capital, that we are able to propel the organisation’s overall Performance, thus Driving Business Excellence. These are all central to our theme this year, Honouring Human Capital. Driving Business Excellence .

At the heart of this agility and innovation, lies the connectivity we have with our friends, Associates and Business Partners. Honouring Human Capital through these Awards is an affirmation to HR professionals and organisations for their outstanding contributions, not only in the work place but in the workforce as well. Fostering a sense of pride and accomplishment across organisations, the Awards act as a focal point in helping to drive business excellence! With you as our pillar, together with your passion and support, we are excited about being able to honour our industry trailblazers in 2019, paving the way forward for new HR benchmarks and standards to be developed! OBJECTIVES OF THE AWARDS Each year, leading HR trailblazers and people management practices are honoured at the Singapore HR Awards, and new benchmarks and standards for the HR profession developed. Each Award is a distinctive recognition by SHRI to mark the successes and accomplishments of people managers. Through the Awards, SHRI strives to equip people managers for their increasingly critical responsibility as Singapore enters its next phase of transformation, and reinforce the importance of developing our most important asset (human capital), so that we can continue to have an innovative and resilient workforce on the global stage. The annual Presentation Gala provides a platform for the HR fraternity to come together and celebrate their achievements, showcase successful HR initiatives and build a sense of shared identity and purpose.

BUSINESS HR AWARDS Fast-Growing (2 nd Year Running) Entry Requirements Companies must be in operation for at least 5 years • Companies have to demonstrate a 10% (Start-Up / SME) / 5% (Government Agencies / • GLC / Large Enterprise / MNC) revenue growth or better every year for the last 3 years Certification is based on companies’ annual financials, which have to be verified by • auditors to be true and fair for all 5 years Full-time employees equivalent – 20 (Start-Up / SME) / 100 (Government Agencies / • GLC / Large Enterprise / MNC)
