Who are we?

Shelter Friends is a non-profit, all volunteer, organization that supports the Josephine County Animal Shelter. We support the adoptable animals at the shelter through our adoption events and placing animals in foster homes when needed.

 Created and managed a network of foster families to provide

temporary homes for the adoptable animals at the shelter.

 Hold multiple monthly adoption events at various venues in

the community to increase adoptions

 Provide medical care above & beyond the routine medical care

provided by the shelter

 Transportation to vet appointments, medical emergencies,

  • ut-of-the-area adoptive homes, and transfers to OHS Second

Chance program

 Create a wide-spread volunteer base to help in a multitude of

ways

 504 Cat Adoptions – 199 At PetSmart!  119 Kittens Transferred to Oregon Human Society’s Second Chance

 Grew from 7 foster families in 2013 to over 35  Over 250 cats, kittens, dogs and puppies fostered

 All animals in foster families are 100% supported by Shelter Friends –

supplies, food, medications, vet visits, etc.

 Shelter Friends pays for medical needs above & beyond the routine

medical care provided by Josephine County Animal Control, including special or emergency medical needs.

 No one with Shelter Friends receives a salary  Administrative expenses, such as periodic advertising, mailing

expenses, supplies, etc.
