Why does it happen? • The condenser coil, which is located in your outdoor unit, transfers heat from inside your home to the outdoors. Condenser coils are made of copper. • Fins provide additional surface area, which permit your unit to better accept and reject heat and help direct air through the coil. Fins are made of aluminum. • Copper and aluminum are dissimilar metals.
