the planning and delivery of the TORONTO2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games.

Volunteer Requirements

  • Language requirements:
  • All volunteers are required to have a basic working knowledge of

English.

  • To support our athletes and visitors, we are also looking for volunteers

who speak French, Spanish or Portuguese and other selected languages.

  • Age requirements:
  • The volunteer program is open to individuals 16 years or older as of

January 1, 2015.

  • Volunteers under 18 years of age will require the consent of a parent or

guardian to participate.

Time Commitment

  • Volunteering at the Games requires a significant time

commitment.

  • In general, the minimum shift requirements are:
  • Pan Am Games volunteers will contribute 12 shifts over

18 Games-time operating days.

  • Parapan Am Games volunteers will contribute 6 shifts
  • ver 9 Games-time operating days.

What Will Volunteers Receive?

  • Comprehensive training program

Supporting Student Volunteers

  • Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) enhancement is available to college

and university students who volunteer for the Pan/Parapan Am Games

  • Encourages student participation in the TO2015 Volunteer Program by reducing

financial burden associated with post-secondary education

  • New and returning students who volunteer will not be required to make a pre-study

financial contribution

  • New graduates who volunteer will be able to defer paying their OSAP loan until one

full year after completing full-time studies (currently 6 month grace)

  • Students can apply for these benefits on the TO2015 Volunteer Application form

(available April 8th at www.toronto2015.org/volunteer)

How Will Volunteers Be Assigned?

  • Volunteers will be deployed throughout the Greater Golden

Horseshoe region at more than 50 competition and non- competition venues and facilities.

  • Non-competition venues, like our Athletes’ village, are sites

crucial to the Games but where no actual competition takes place.

  • Volunteers will be assigned to over 50 functional areas.
  • Based on geography, availability and skills.

– Host, team lead, comms centre crew

  • Technology

– Help desk, venue tech manager

  • Transport

– Driver, fleet assistant

– Massage therapist, first responder

  • Workforce

– Check-in desk, crew

  • Village Operations

– Check-in desk, admin roles

Training

  • Training will begin in early 2015.
  • Combination of web-based and in-person training events (regional).
  • Volunteers will play a critical role in the delivery of the Games-time

training program (“Train the trainer” model).

Getting Involved: Games Time

  • Recruitment for Games-time volunteers will begin in April 2014.
  • An online application will be available on the TO2015 website:

www.TORONTO2015.org.

  • Option to submit your contact information now via

www.TORONTO2015.org. You will be notified when online applications become available.

  • There are numerous pre-Games volunteer opportunities available now.
  • To view these positions, please visit the volunteer section on the

TO2015 website.

  • This site will be updated as additional volunteer positions become

available.

  • Prior to the Games, we will require volunteers to assist in many roles

including:

  • community outreach activities
  • general planning
  • transportation and logistics
  • uniform distribution and accreditation
  • volunteer selection and training
  • conferences and special events
