Project Purpose

The purpose of the US 60 widening project is to relieve congestion, improve safety, and provide system connectivity for motorists accessing downtown Ashland from the I-64 corridor.

Traffic Forecasts

  • Existing (2011/2012)

– 10,500 to 13,500 vehicles per day (VPD)

  • Design Year (2030)

– 3 Lane: 14,400 to 15,600 VPD – 5 Lane: 17,400 to 18,800 VPD

  • The 5 Lane option diverts traffic from KY 180
