William H. Holmes, Program Chair, a partner with K&L Gates LLP, focuses on energy and infrastructure projects and transactions with an emphasis on wind energy, solar energy, hydroelectric power, geothermal, biomass, natural gas, carbon offsets, and energy
- storage. His experience also extends into corporate
transactions, water law, and real estate law. David L. Benson, a partner with K&L Gates LLP, is a member of the firm's Energy, Infrastructure and Resources practice group. He represents investors and companies developing and financing wind, solar, biomass, thermal, transmission, energy storage and
Wendy A. Carlson is a Managing Director of Prudential Capital Group in Dallas, Texas (Energy Finance Group: Power) and oversees the private placement activity in the firm's power projects, utilities, and electric cooperatives. She was previously a Managing Director with Marathon Capital LLC. William R. Connors is Vice President, Renewable Resources, with MDU Resources Group, Inc. in Issaquah, Washington. He leads company efforts in the development, construction, and acquisition of unregulated renewable energy projects, especially projects using company construction services. Sarah Edmonds, Vice President and General Counsel with PacifiCorp Transmission, is responsible for all legal and compliance matters affecting the PacifiCorp transmission business. She also oversees development of strategy and policy recommendations relating to market design and development. Roger Garratt, Director of Resource Allocation with Puget Sound Energy in Bellevue, Washington, is responsible for acquiring new electric generation supplies for PSE's resource portfolio, leading the company's exploration of emerging generation technologies and other strategic opportunities. Gary Greenblatt is a Managing Director with Marathon Capital LLC in New York City. He brings a wealth of knowledge and contacts in the power and utility space. Prior to joining Marathon, he was a Managing Director in the Global Power and Utilities Group for Dresdner Kleinwort. Raimund Grube, a principal at Equilibrium Capital, leads the firm's renewable energy and energy efficiency strategies. During the last 15 years, he has developed projects with a total value of more than $3 billion. Previously, he was President, COO and a founding member of Element Power. Philip B. Jones, a Commissioner with the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission in Olympia, Washington, was appointed by Governor Christine Gregoire in 2005. He previously served as managing director of Cutter & Buck (Europe), BV in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Robert D. Kahn, Ed.D, is Executive Director of the Northwest & Intermountain Power Producers Coalition (NIPPC) in Mercer Island, Washington. He is also Principal of Robert D. Kahn & Company LLC, a strategic communications agency specializing in securing public acceptance of new technology. Letha Tawney is Director of Utility Innovation and Polsky Chair for Renewable Energy at World Resources Institute in Washington, DC. She leads the strategy for Charge, WRI's Electricity Initiative, to develop new business and regulatory models for utilities in the electricity sector. Alla Weinstein, founder of Trident Winds LLC, founded and ran two renewable energy technology startups and an association, focusing on renewable energy projects development including PPA origination and commercial construction, working with multi- disciplinary technical personnel and subcontractors.
Course Accreditation
Tiis course has been approved by the Oregon State Bar for 6.0 general CLE credits (attending and live webcast). Ben Fairbanks, Wind Development Consultant, has developed and financed over 1000 MW and $1.5 billion in renewable energy
- projects. He previously held positions with SunEdison and First Wind,
where he was responsible for pipeline creation, M&A, permitting, interconnection and origination. Jesse Gronner is Vice President of Business Development for Avangrid Renewables, the renewable business of Avangrid, Inc., a diversified energy and utility company with operations in 25 states. Avangrid, Inc. operates regulated utilities and electricity generation through two primary lines of business.
