Is my program eligible?

Shelter: These grants will fund qualifying organizations that provide short-term shelter to move individuals and families who are homeless to shelter within the UWPV catchment area. This may include, but is not limited to, individuals or families who are homeless because of financial hardship, survivors of crisis or natural disaster, and survivors of domestic violence. Food: Support short-term food assistance for people facing economic hardship, homelessness, isolation (homebound), etc… This will include food pantries, meal services, and complete SNAP applications. Heating Assistance: These grants are intended to fund programs that provide assistance to individuals who are unable to pay their heating bills due to economic hardship, but do not qualify for state

  • r federal assistance (201%-350% of federal poverty guidelines).

What will the RFF Include?

Proposal Requirements and Selection Criteria The following criteria will be required for all proposals:

  • Alignment with UWPV’s Basic Needs focus areas
  • Alignment with the applicant’s organization mission statement
  • Select a Units of Service discussed in your Program Description. Speak to the current

baseline of the # of households and people that you assist now, and how much more you will change or expand with UWPV funds. Here are the Units of Service to select from: – #of bed nights – # of meals served – # bags of food distributed (what’s in a bag of food)? – # of fuel bills paid per household – # households receiving emergency services and assistance – # households receiving disaster relief services and assistance (ex. fires, natural disasters)

  • Household = 1 residence; # people served = # people in a household
  • TRACK PRIORITY TARGET POPULATIONS (VETERANS, SENIOR CITIZENS, ETC.)
  • Attachments (Budget Template, Board of Directors List, Last Approved Organizational Budget,

and Last Approved Audit or 990 if not required to file an audit)

Measuring a Unit of Service = $

Example:

  • If it costs an organization $33 to provide shelter for an

individual on any given night. Therefore, the unit cost of a bed night is: $33 per person per night.

  • It costs an organization $30 to provide a bag of food to a
  • family. Then the cost of a bag / box distributed is $30.

What level of funding is available? The maximum grant award will be $35,000 per year and will be determined based on the availability of funds and the impact of the proposed program.

What are the post-grant requirements?

  • Carefully reading through the Memorandum of Understanding

with UWPV prior to receiving any funds.

  • Submit program and financial progress reports every six months

and as requested, starting January 2019.

  • Implement publicity and co-branding with United Way of Pioneer

Valley on your materials related to the funded program.

  • Complete and update your profiles in Mass211(information and

referral resource) and Volunteer Pioneer Valley (free online volunteer engagement tool).

  • Identify yourself as UWPV funded agencies by displaying the

UWPV trademarked logo within their facilities and on all communications materials pertaining to UWPV-funded programs.
