ReUSE System 1. Receive donations from campus: • Office clean-outs • Residence hall move-outs Use of Movers from • Overstock and Surplus 2. Store and sort materials at Surplus Warehouse and the ReUSE closet 3. Redistribute Items across campus

ReUSE Closet After sorting, reusable materials are inventoried and stored on campus at the ReUSE closet for the ReUSE station and ReUSE store.

ReUSE Station • Main location for redistributing office materials to students and building occupants • Restocked for students, staff and faculty to take for free • Maintained by Cal Zero Waste and the ReUSE Club

EcoTrike • Hybrid-electric assisted powered truck trike • Used to transport materials to the ReUSE station and store

ReUSE Store Open since Spring 2016, the ReUSE Store is a student-run space where students and staff can buy, donate, trade, and pick up reusable items .

How Does It Work?

How much has been redistributed? Redistributed Office Materials • Since August 2016: 2774 pounds • Since Jan 2016 4146 pounds • Since November 2015: 4561 pounds

ReUSE Store Impact Since opening in 2016… • Clothing donations and sales have increased by 44% • 1466 clothing items have been diverted from sales and donations

Cal Zero Waste and Brita Partnership

Brita Partnership Background In Fall of 2016, UC Berkeley secured a partnership with Brita to help promote zero waste sustainability efforts , donating 8500 reusable water filter bottles to the university’s residence halls.

Scan, Track, and Win! With the Cupanion app users can scan their reusable bottles to track their usage and win prizes!

Refreshing Refills/ ReUSE Refreshing Refills is a Cal Zero Waste ReUSE program aimed at promoting refillable mugs, water bottles, pens, and markers on campus.
