Preliminary Design Reviews

  • Internal DUNE reviews (i.e. not required by funding agencies or

LBNC) to monitor the progress of the project

  • Review charge and review team decided by review committee (P.

Farthouat, S. Kettel, S. Zeller)

  • We had a review of the mechanical aspects in February 2019 (see

agenda in Indico, final report)

  • We had a review of the ASICs and the FEMBs for DUNE last week at

CERN (see agenda in Indico)

  • Preliminary report available to TPC electronics management and

selected participants, final report will become available by the end of the month

  • The committee investigated very extensively our designs, made a lot of

comments, number and quality of questions somehow reflects how advanced the various designs are

  • The committee thinks we will be able to submit next round of ASIC

prototypes by June

The next review

  • We will have the third (and final) preliminary design review at

Brookhaven on March 10 and 11

  • Topics to be discussed: Warm Interface Electronics Crate and

system aspects

  • Expect to have a full day of presentations on Tuesday 10 March,

with possibly another 2-3 hours of presentations and question and answers on Wednesday 11 March

  • We will have the closeout in the afternoon of Wednesday 11, but

review participants should not plan on leaving before 5:30pm

  • This may make it difficult to fly back to Chicago on Wednesday
  • Last flights from LGA: UA @ 9pm, AA @10pm, DL @ 7:45pm
  • Participants (reviewers) who are not BNL users need to start the

paperwork to access BNL as soon as possible
