TSC and TT Priorities for SKN

• St. Kitts and Nevis has recently established a Protected Areas

Unit, employed park rangers and is in the process of establishing Forestry Management Programmes Areas for TSC may include:

• Technical assistance (TA) in applying GIS and remote

sensing as a science-based, decision support tool for forestry management

• TA in the use of drone technology for forest data collection

and monitoring

TSC & TT Priorities for SKN (’’’’ t)

• St. Kitts and Nevis along with some other Caribbean islands

have seen a marked reduction in key coral endangered species such as elkhorn and staghorn coral. There is a lack f expertise in coral restoration. Areas for TSC may include:

1)

TA in establishing artificial coral reefs

2)

TA in the establishing of coral nurseries

3)

TA assistance in the use and deployment of a Coral Reef Early Warning System (CREWS) Station

4)

Capacity building in the above area

• St. Kitts and Nevis has the unique challenge with controlling

the population growth of the African Green Vervet Monkey, which is the most destructive IAS in the country. Areas for TSC may include:

1)

TA in management of the monkey population

2)

Capacity building is proven control measures

Technical capacity building in various types of ecological survey techniques such as field techniques for surveying bird
