WHO ARE WE?
We wanted to build on the work our school council and steering group had done but we wanted make the selection of our new team EVEN
- BETTER. Last term Mrs Vale and Mrs
Wilkes put the two groups together to make them stronger. THIS YEAR WE HAD A PROPER VOTE IN EACH ROOM WHERE EVERYONE HAD THE CHANCE TO GIVE THEIR IDEAS AND OPINIONS. We now have a NEW TEAM FOR 2016!
WHAT WE DO
- We now meet together every month to
talk about: How we can make everyone aware of their rights so we can remember them How we can make Caslon better by treating each other with the care and respect we deserve
- Then we talk back to our classes to see
what they think and to share our ideas and see if they agree with us.
WHAT HAVE WE DONE SO FAR?
- Playtime, lunchtime and school charters
- Talked to parents at Parent’s Evening and made a quiz
- Year 6 Reps have helped when Governors have visited the school
- Made posters for KS2
- Sang songs, made videos and written letters about what we want our government to
do to help children around the world
- Helped to raise money for UNICEF in school
- Worked on our own Peace Garden to make our school a place for children to relax
- Made a treasure hunt to help children learn their rights
- Made a certificate which we will give out in assemblies
WHAT DO WE WANT TO DO NOW?
We want to help children remember their rights better with songs and chants. We would like to make a play so they watch it in case they find it hard to read. It will be more fun! We want our parents to know more about the UNCRC so we will start a newsletter to go home and on the website. We want the parents to have a quiz with their child at the next parent’s evening. We want to raise more money for UNICEF and children in need. We want to create our own stickers to give to children who are respecting others rights.
We want to have playground leaders to remind others about their rights and to tell people not to take others right’s away. We want to make friends with children in other countries and learn about them We want to make more posters and put them up around the school so children can remember We are going to make a tree out of paper hands with the rights on them and make a better ‘Rights Respecting Board’ in the hall.
