Junior High/Middle School
- Students begin their career portfolio in 7th grade and finish in 9th grade
○ 7th grade: Matchmaker ○ 8th grade: Research a career ○ 9th grade: Compile a resume
- Visiting BCTC and Colleges
○ Students visit Alvernia, PSU, RACC, Kutztown, and Albright colleges. ○ Students take a tour of the campus and learn about the College Search Process and college life in general ○ Students also have the option of taking a tour of the BCTC West and/or East campuses. ○ After this school year, the college and BCTC trips will be done at the High School.
Junior High/Middle School
- Road to Success course
○ A new course that each School Counselor will be teaching to their kids on their caseload ○ Lessons teach students life skills to be a successful adult. ○ Topics included in the course but are not limited to: ■ Stress Management ■ Social Skills ■ Anti-Bullying ■ Goal setting, Budgeting, etc. ■ Career Exploration
Senior High
- Career Portfolio
○ 10th Grade - matchmaker, update resume, BBEC visit, DDL ○ 11th Grade - update resume, job shadow, DDL ○ 12th Grade - update resume, DDL, career portfolio presentation
Senior High
- BCTC
○ 37 Career Programs ○ Many programs qualify students to directly enter the workforce ○ Technical Academy - students earn college credit while enrolled in high school through agreements with local community colleges and universities
- Internship
○ 23 seniors enrolled ○ Students spend part of their day in classes and part of their day in a professional setting ○ Each student has a mentor within the professional setting that arranges experiences and grades the student’s progress
- Gateway to College
○ Students who are unsuccessful in the Boyertown Senior High setting may be eligible for this program ○ Students meet and attend classes within a cohort at Montgomery County Community College ○ Students have the opportunity to complete their high school academic requirements and also begin accruing community college credits
