October 7, 2008, by

  • Mr. Justin

Sousa and

  • Mr. Niels Rasmussen, of Thurber Engineering Ltd. (Thurber).

The Sis were read using an RST Digitilt probe with 2 ft wheelbase and an RST hand-held and SINCO Datamate readouts, respectively. Inclinometer reading depths were defined as per cable markings with respect to the top of the inclinometer cable clamps with the exception of SI99-4R, which was read from the top of the casing. 2 . Zones of movement are summarized on Table NC17a - 1 at the end of this report. Table NC17a- 1 also provides a historical account of the total movement that has

  • ccurred at this site since the initialization of the slope inclinometers, the depth of

movement, and the maximum rate of movement. 2.3 Interpretation of Monitoring Results The movement rates have generally slightly increased as compared to the last readings in the spring 2008. The maximum rate of movement recorded along the previously identified movement zones during this site visit was 5.1 mm/yr in SI03-5. Slope inclinometers Sl99-2, SI99-4R and Sl99-6 have registered current rates of movement of 3.4 mm/yr, 4.6 mm/yr and 1.9 mm/yr, respectively. Sl99-1 shows a possible new zone of movement on the upper 6 m of the Sl with an incremental movement of 2.4 mm since spring 2008.

3 .

RECOMMENDATIONS 3 . 1 Future Work The instruments should be read again in the Spring 2009. The next reading for Sl99-1 should help to confirm whether a new zone of movement is occurring in the upper 6 m. 3.2 Instrumentation Repairs No instruments need to be repaired at this time.
