Concept

My thesis seeks to negotiate an acknowledgement that other worlds do exist and that the boundary between what we accept as reality and the unknown is superficial. I am creating a fully immersive sensory interactive installation that plays with scale and science fantasy aesthetics to give a physical form to unseen elements. The elements are based both on the overlooked micro-worlds found on earth and my

  • wn imagination, creating a space for the viewer to explore

the possibility of the absurdly plausible.

Questions

  • 1. How can actual science theory be interwoven with fantasy and

the imagined in such a way that it influences the viewer see beyond their own immediate sense of reality?

  • 2. Can I build fantastical worlds in such a way that the aesthetic

implies narrative elements without directly revealing the story to the viewer?

  • 3. Through the design and aesthetic of my installation, can I

momentarily transport the viewer to another world and incite a sense of exploration to such a degree that stays with the viewer after they leave the space?
