The Role of the Pastoral Team • To be a key link to parents/carers • To support students day to day with pastoral issues • To ensure that students are happy in school • To ensure students meet their potential and our expectations • To work alongside other pastoral staff when needed e.g. support staff, attendance officer • To implement rewards and sanctions • To monitor progress, effort and behaviour

My Role as Form Tutor • To meet and register students each morning • To deal with any issues as they arise • To support students generally • To check students are ready to learn – equipment checks, ensure planners are signed weekly and used correctly • To deliver the PSHE curriculum • To check students have the correct uniform • To contact parents/carers if necessary

  4. Equipm ent Needed It is essential that students come to school prepared to learn: • Writing pen (and a spare) • Pencil (and a spare) • Ruler • Rubber • Coloured pencils • Calculator (scientific) • School planner (provided by the school) • A sensible school bag to carry books and equipment

  5. Uniform We are proud of our uniform and check this regularly, students are expected to have: • The school blazer • Black trousers (no skinny/fashion trouser) • Black pleated skirt – knee length • White, button collar shirt • Clip on tie • Students may wear a plain navy jumper (no cardigans) • Flat black shoes without logo’s • Natural coloured hair – hair dye must be natural in colour • No nail polish or acrylic/gel nails (students will be asked to remove them) • One pair of earrings No bracelets, nose studs etc •

  6. PE Kit • Blue rugby shirt • Black shorts • Trainers • Blue football/rugby socks • Plain white t-shirt for indoor activities

  7. Teething Problem s! • 35 minute lunch break – we are aware that students can initially find this difficult and will be sensitive in the first few weeks as they adapt to secondary school • Homework – students should expect 30 minutes per subject per week. Homework club is available for students who find completing homework difficult • Buses – travelling on the school bus can be daunting, staff travel on most school services on the way home Please see Mrs Atkin for bus queries • Finding their way round – we are a big site, students may get lost – lots of staff on hand to help!
