CLASSICS TOUR 2020 ITINERARY
Monday Arrive 5.50 Bus Station Depart Spalding Bus Station for Gatwick at 06h00 Hand in passport to group leader Departs 12h00 Gatwick Arrive in Rome at 15h35 You will need to have enough money or food to buy tea at the airport.
What to take?
- Please pack lightly as you will have to carry your own
luggage and we are only going for 4 nights!
- Outbound Journey 15kgs hold luggage + 1 hand luggage
per person
- A small rucksack is advisable for the day visits.
- Any toiletries / liquids in your hand luggage in a clear
resealable plastic bag. (No container may hold more than 100 millilitres)
- Put toiletries in hold luggage wherever possible. You can
buy water after going through security.
Clothing
February the weather average is cool. 14* - 3* Please bring a coat / waterproof, and jumpers / jeans etc. (doubtful you will need shorts...) Good trainers / walking shoes … Evenings are cooler – even in Sorrento which is coastal Dress code in churches is: shoulders and midriffs covered and 'modest' dress or skirt length for women, these rules can be rigorously enforced in major basilicas like St Peter's. Vatican – shoulders must be covered and skirts must not knee- length…

- It may be expensive to use phones in Italy so you may
want to check with your service provider before you go for the best European deal.

- Please make sure you obtain Euros before the trip.
It will be your responsibility to look after your money during the trip.
- Bring some UK money for travel days.
- All breakfasts and evening meals are provided with water to

- Lunch money has been taken for the 4 days we are there.
- Money is needed for extra drinks and souvenirs.

Monday After landing.. We go straight to our hotel in Rome Rooming will be sorted out hopefully before we leave. There is a variety of room sizes 2,3,4,5, Restaurant meal at 7pm approx.

- Groups – purely health and safety – not designed to impact
- n your enjoyment of the trip
- Most activities undertaken as a whole group
- Free-time – MUST be groups of four minimum
- Have an idea who you want to share with – but please be
flexible just in case … we will do our best to accommodate everyone’s wishes.
- Phoning home…please don’t worry parents unnecessarily.
When in Rome…….
- Crime levels are low but there is quite a lot of petty crime
(bag snatching and pick-pocketing) in the city centres. This often involves co-ordinated gangs including children. Targets are often hassled, while other members of the gang go into action.
- Take care on public transport and in crowded areas in
Rome, especially around the main railway station ‘Termini’ and in St Peter’s Square. Do not have expensive valuables, equipment or jewellery on display.
- Be particularly vigilant when unloading your baggage
from coaches.

- It is a school trip –not a holiday to relax in the
hotel room
- You will see amazing sites – take pictures
- But - make sure you can survive without social
media – especially at mealtimes
- Be prepared to try new foods…
- Be prepared to try some Italian!
