  2. 6/25/2020 INBRE Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs) https:/ / inbre.uams.edu/ funding-opportunities/  INBRE Funding period May 1 –April 30  INBRE RF As released early Autumn  Open to permanent tenure-track faculty at PUIs  Research Grant Funding Opportunities:  Summer Research Grants (SRGs) – up to $26,500 in directs, 100% effort for period 2.3 months  Collaborative Projects – up to $40,000 in direct costs up to 12- month period, money split between PUI Lead & Collaborator  Small Instrumentation Awards - up to $20,000  Research Development Awards – up to $100,000/ year direct costs, 2 year 8 month period, start date of May 1, 2020 – Dec 30, 2022 (next due date TBA- summer 2022) S ubmitting Y our Proposal  Proposals submitted as a single PDF by the Signing Official of your institution  S igning Official assures us that the proposal has been routed correctly through your institution  S igning Official also assumes the . . . obligations imposed by the Federal laws, requirements, and conditions for a grant or grant application, including the applicable Federal regulations.  All grants submitted to : INBREapplication@ uams.edu 2

  6. 6/25/2020 S ome things to remember . . .  Register for an eRA Commons User Name  Check all boxes on Face Page  Biosketch Personal S tatement – important for each biosketch to include language that is specific to the proposed proj ect Developing Y our Budget – Form Page 4 Effort Calendar Months (12 x 50% = 6 cal months) Academic Months (9 x 25% = 2.25 acad months) S ummer Months (2.3 x 100% = 2.3 summer months) Salary Basic Formula for salary determination (base salary/ appt months) x effort = S alary request ($50,000/ 9) * 2.25 = $12,500 allowable salary recovery Fringe Benefits HR or your sponsored programs office will typically have a base fringe rate usually between 25% - 31% of salary Students S tudent salaries determined by campus norms S tipends are typically considered Other Costs and not listed under personnel 6

  7. 6/25/2020 Developing Y our Budget continued Equipment Any asset purchase over $5,000 Supplies Average $1,000/ month for each full time employee Provide enough detail so reviewers know you have thought about the proj ect and what you will need to accomplish your aims. Travel (Miles x 0.42) x # of trips expected to make (reg. + per diem + airfare + lodging) x # of travelers Developing Y our Budget Other Costs Animal Per Diems Equipment Maintenance Core Facility Usage Publications Costs Facilities & Administrative Costs These go to the institution & are determined by your institution’s agreement with DHS In addition to the allowable direct costs $100,000 Direct Costs + $32,000 F&A = $132,000 Total Costs 7
