My Philosophy

  • “Time on task is directly

related to knowledge gained!” So, we’ll be busy!

  • Help each student

achieve their very best and become informed productive citizens.

My Goal

so we will leave them in the class for use as a

Comprehensive Quarterly Final worth 25 points. Students will show their ability to maintain overall details of major events and people from our past.

Progress Reports

  • Student grades are available at all times online

therefore I will not print them.

  • All families will receive a SKYWARD password to

access this system (usually by the first week of September if you are new to Carriel). I encourage students and family members to check this often.

Assignments/Projects

  • Bell Work (most days) will be assigned and graded

for each chapter/unit.

  • One Current News Event presentation is required

each quarter.

  • Several projects will be assigned with firm deadlines

(students will get a detailed handout in class regarding all projects). After assigned in class, the project information will be posted on my class board and on my website.

Absence

  • Students are held responsible for gathering,

completing, and turning in all missed assignments related to an absence.

  • Students will pick up missing assignments with

completion directions from the ‘Absent’ box located in the front of the room.

  • All students will receive a zero in the SKYWARD for

all missed deadlines (whether present or not). Once the assignment or project is complete, turned-in, and graded I will update SKYWARD.

Late Work

  • All homework is due at the beginning of the class
  • r it is late.
  • All incomplete work will be returned without being

graded and considered late.

  • If an assignment is not completed and turned in

by 3pm on the day following its due date, the student may be given a lunch detention to serve with me to complete it.

No Name papers – Recycle Bin

  • I do not grade “No Name” papers, they will be

placed in the Recycle Bin until claimed.

  • If students receive a zero on an assignment, it may

be that they forgot to write their name on it and they may find it there. Once claimed, students need to turn in the assignment for a late grade.

PBIS

(Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports)

  • Classroom Behavior: As a PBIS school, we

acknowledge that there is a reason behind most disruptive behavior. The student, parent/guardian, and myself will work together to resolve a solution to put an end to all disruptive behavior.

Extra Help from parents and teachers

  • Classrooms are sometimes designed to benefit

students who can sit still and concentrate.

  • Consequently, some students struggled completing

homework, studying for tests, and organizing their work – these students need additional help from parents, friends, and teachers.

  • If this describes your student, please let me know so

we can work together to quickly improve on these skills to increase their academic success.
