  6. Curriculum • New National Curriculum Term 1 = Travels Around Europe Term 2 = The Wonder of Bristol Term 3 & Term 4 = Roman Britain Term 5 & Term 6 = Habitats

Home Learning • Year 4 is all about encouraging children’s independence in their learning and their life skills. • Maths and English Homework will be set on a Thursday and is due back on a Tuesday. • Please read with your child at least 3 times a week and sign in the HASP book – this is monitored every Friday. • There will be 3 extended homework tasks set during the year.

  10. Trips and costs To enrich the curriculum we offer visits and trips… • Autumn Term - Barton Camp – 3 day residential Trip to Bristol • Spring Term - The Roman Remains In Caerleon • Summer Term – Folly Farm – Science (Habitats)

  11. Help! • Help in school – we need readers, people to help cook, swimming volunteers, trip helpers and any other offers of skills and support! We don’t mind how often! • Please see you class teacher – all offers gratefully received! • CRB checks are needed.

  12. Behaviour and Rewards • Individual rewards – for work and effort – badges and certificates. • Class rewards for teamwork and group efforts. • At times it may be necessary to spend a small amount of time at lunch/break times to give your child extra help with work, or give them extra time to complete a task. • Please refer to the School behaviour policy for further details.

  13. School Uniform • Our school is proud of its tradition with uniform and we ask for parents support to maintain high standards. • NO FASHION items. • No coloured belts. • Shoes should be black and school style – children should be able to run safely in them. • No jewellery other than a single plain stud in each ear, these should be taken out for PE/games. • No make-up/nail varnish. • Swimming – no long shorts or bikinis

  14. PE & GAMES • PE is on Monday and Games on Wednesday. • PE and Games Kits must be in school at all times. • Two separate bags is easier for them. • Outdoor Games takes place in almost all weather! • Children need suitable kit – tracksuits/gloves/hats and OLD trainers. • Please ensure all kit is named , and that children have a bag to put muddy shoes in! • You are welcome to take kits home to wash over the weekend!

  16. How it will work: • Activities will be explained in assembly • Children will complete an options form • Places will be allocated • Children will enjoy allocated activity for 6 months • Review & repeat!

  18. Attendance • School starts at 8.50 – children line up outside their classrooms, do not arrive before 8.40am. If you are late, please go to the office to sign your child in. • School ends at 3.10 – Please ensure your child knows the arrangements for them to leave school. • Absence If you child is ill – leave phone message each day to explain. • Term Time Holidays – send a written request to HT – 99% are unauthorised. Significant unauthorised absence can result in fines. • Attendance is monitored and parents are written to if attendance is low, if children are regularly late or if they have absences that break a high number of weeks. • The Education Welfare Officer will become involved at the request of the school.
