The city of Niš is an administrative, economic, cultural and university centre of South- East Serbia It is the second largest city in the country with more than 250.000 citizens Niš is known as the gate between East and West, because it is located at the crossroads of the most important Balkan traffic routes

The University of Nis was founded on June 15th, 1965

Since the University was formed:

• 44847 students have

graduated, 1288 of them foreign citizens

• 2144 master's theses and

1170 doctoral dissertations have been defended.

At present, within 13 faculties, there are more than 25.000 students and about 1.500 teaching staff
