THALIA
Thalia (/θəˈlaɪə/; Ancient Greek: Θάλεια, Θαλία; “the joyous, the fmourishing”, from Ancient Greek: θάλλειν, thállein; “to fmourish, to be verdant”), also spelled Thaleia, was the goddess who presided
- ver comedy and idyllic poetry. In this context her name means
“fmourishing”, because the praises in her songs fmourish through time.[1] She was the daughter of Zeus and Mnemosyne, the eighth-born of the nine Muses. / Thalia (Greek: Θαλία Thalía, “Abundance”), in ancient Greek religion, was one of the three Graces or Charites with her sisters Aglaea and Euphrosyne. They were usually found dancing in a
- circle. They were the daughters of Zeus and either the Oceanid
Eurynome or Eunomia, goddess of good order and lawful conduct. Thalia was the goddess of festivity and rich banquets. The Greek word thalia is an adjective applied to banquets, meaning rich, plentiful, luxuriant and abundant.[1]
