Meeting Updates

  • Guest Presentation: California Product Stewardship Council

(CPSC)—Senate Bill 212, DHCS Grant, and Drug Take-Back Program Overview

− Increase public and healthcare community awareness of safe medicine disposal – extensive educational campaign (educational newspaper inserts) that covers the state (except for med bin

  • rdinance counties)

− Envelope locations not advertised on RRWA or www.takebackdrugs.org online maps; however, CPSC will share the information with RRWA to share with partners. − The number of newly installed Russian River watershed take-back bins paid by the California Drug Take-Back Program will be tallied by mid September.

  • Bulk purchase of bin liners was paid by grant funds (including the bins,

installation, access to online portal, servicing, and technical support)

  • The bulk purchase “credit” will exist until completely diminished, which is

expect to be AFTER the start of SB212 - when SB212 Stewardship Organization takes over servicing of the bins. This is not a guarantee, although based on current burn-through rates, it should last until after the start

  • f SB212.
