Audition Process

Adults

  • All must book an individual vocal slot.
  • All must attend the movement call
  • Please read audition pack carefully and prepare the pieces

set , where stated

  • Be prepared!
  • Adult cast must be 16yrs +

Children

  • Auditions will be in groups. Book into one of the groups.

Each session will be up to 30 mins long.

  • Both vocals and movement will be tested in these sessions
  • Please prepare the pieces set
  • Ensure you are under the height restrictions – we will

measure you on the day

Audition Material

Students

All students have a stage age of early to mid 20’s and a vocal range of Low A to F. Also play other ensemble roles.

  • Combeferre - a philosopher and believer in peace. He is gentle,

humane, strong and brave.

  • Feuilly - a worker, self-educated and an orphan. A Believer in

“nationality”. Affectionate, warm, poetic.

  • Courfeyrac - a student, He is youthful, passionate and fearless.

Students

  • Joly - a medical student. Eccentric and light-hearted, although
  • ccasionally morbid. His name is from the English “jolly”
  • Prouvaire - a student of social studies. He is kind, soft spoken and at

the right moments strong and masterful. He is a poet

  • Lesgles - a student, cheerful, laughing at life but unlucky. Close

friends with Joly

  • Grantaire - a student, the opposite of Enjolras. He believes in
  • nothing. He admires Enjolras, but loves to mock him. Witty and
  • ften drunk, he is happy being with the group and they put up with

him because of his good humour

Thenardiers Gang

These are generally older than the students. Vocal ranges C sharp (below middle C) to E. Also play other ensemble roles.

  • Brujon - Physically strong. The body of a bear and a pea sized
  • brain. A gangster, stupid and evil
  • Babet - Physically frail, but lean and cunning
  • Claquesous - “He is the night.” tough, dangerous & secretive
  • Montparnasse - A teenager, handsome and dangerous. Kills

with a knife. He is well dressed, strongly built and possessive

Rehearsal process

  • Chorus will generally be required Sundays. Some may

be required on the occasional week night.

  • Leads will be 1 to 2 nights a week plus Sundays
  • Commitment to rehearsals is important. If you must

miss a rehearsal it is your responsibility to catch up.

  • We are in Baycourt for 4 weeks – you must be able to

commit to this period.

Yes we will have a live orchestra! We are currently looking for a reed player to join an exciting collection of talented musicians already with the project. We would love to take names of any other instrumentalists in the event of any openings and for future opportunities with the society
